St. John’s acts as an outreach centre for SurreySave; the local credit union (community bank) which covers Surrey County and the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames. The St John’s outreach which operates concurrently with our Street Café from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month and enables people to find out about the community bank in which you can save and/or borrow.

SurreySave is a not for profit, financial co-operative, a community bank, providing affordable loans and ethical savings. It helps the financially excluded who cannot access standard high street banking and provides fair, affordable loans and a cheaper alternative to high cost and payday lenders to all in their area. It also supports local communities by saving people money that can then be spent locally.

The core office team is made up of four paid staff - a CEO, a loans officer, a finance controller and community liaison officer, supported by a team of volunteers. The organisation is directed by a volunteer Board of Directors. An independent Supervisory Committee provides the internal audit function. All Board and Supervisory members are elected by our members and are authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority.

SurreySave receives funding and support in-kind from Surrey County Council, local authorities, housing associations, debt advice providers, faith groups and a range of national and community organisations. In return they provide fair and affordable financial services to residents, tenants and employees, including Employee Savings/Loans schemes.

St. John’s Church has a small team of volunteers who staff the Saturday outreach centre and work in tandem with the “One Norbiton” outreach centre which operates every Thursday (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon) at the Community Hub, 61 Madingley Green, Eureka Rd, Kingston KT1 3JG.
